Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Copenhagen, Denmark!
Copenhagen is a short trip between most other European cities, which provides a great opportunity to enjoy Scandinavian culture from a manageable distance. The "midnight sun" experience in summer months is most striking if you visit Tivoli Gardens late at night and see children with their families around the exhibits and on the rides as though it were still mid-afternoon. First-time visitors, particularly from the United States, are startled on their initial exploration of Copenhagen streets, as they notice the shop windows lined with the kind of larger than life posters which in other countries are found only in adult shops. Here, on the biggest and busiest streets, small children and their families walk past the explicit photographs of cavorting nude couples without batting an eye. The content of this public advertising is not as startling as the sudden realization of how well the Danish citizenry seems to survive without censorship, in contrast to the more heavily censored, puritanical countries. Contrary to the morning pastry named after this country, a true Danish breakfast is the antithesis of American high carbohydrate fare. All of these unusual elements, the lack of city blight, the Scandinavian diet, the freedom from censorship, days that last half the night, and the innocent friendliness of healthy citizens define the unforgettable experience of visiting Copenhagen.
